Polling hours are from 6:00 a.m. until  7:00 p.m.  As long as you are in line by 7:00 p.m., you will be able to vote.

Ways to Vote in Virginia


You can choose the option that works best for you:

  • In-Person Voting: Polls are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Election Day. All polling places are accessible, and assistance is available for seniors and those with disabilities.
  • Early Voting: Virginia offers early voting at designated locations beginning several weeks before Election Day. No excuse needed.
  • Vote by Mail (Absentee): Request a ballot online or by mail, fill it out at home, and return it by the deadline. This is a convenient option if getting to the polls is difficult.

Register to vote or update an existing registration

  • Through Friday, October 24, 2025.
  • Register to vote or update an existing registration online using the Citizen Portal.
  • Voters may register and vote using a provisional ballot In-Person after September 19, 2025, through Election Day.
  • Contact your local registrar’s offices for more information. 


Early, in-person voting period: 

  • Friday, September 19, 2025 through 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025.
  • Contact your local registrar’s offices for all early voting and satellite location information.
  • Voter registration offices will be open for early voting on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Virginia Counts on poll workers.

Officers of Election/poll workers help the election run smoothly during early voting and on Election Day. Roles are based on the needs and staff availability in your location. They may include:

  • Greeter
  • Pollbook Officer
  • Ballot Officer
  • Voting Equipment and Booth Officer
  • Chief Officer
  • Assistant Chief Officer
  • Electoral Board
